Port Of Call - An obscure series from 1935 or 1936 in which each episode deals with a voyage to a different country where events of that country's history are dramatized. They each begin with the low moan of a tramp steamer's whistle and the announcement of the series title, followed by a musical interlude.


THIS EPISODE:

1935. Transco syndication. "The United States Of America". Music fill for local commercial insert. Paul Revere warns of the coming British in old Boston and the revolution begins. In 1848, gold is discovered at Sutter's Mill, California. In 1861, the Civil War begins. Lincoln delivers the Gettysburgh address, Samuel Clemens becomes a Mississippi steamboat pilot. Henry Ford mass produces automobiles, the Wright brothers get off the ground. The identity of the syndicator is subject to correction 30:00.
